We spent today (saturday) doing fun Labor Day holiday weekend things! First thing this morning, hubby and me went to the Arlington Flea Market just outside of Washgington, DC.
The flea market is a lot of fun, free to get into, and full of great vendors.
Some of the vendors are outside on top of teh parking deck, like this vendor who has a couple of cute vintage radios. Hubby doesn't usually go to flea markets with me, but he gave in this morning. He actually looked at some things and bought a pair of corner clamps for $3. He's very happy about his purchase. Can't you tell?
I visited a vendor down under cover in the parking deck. He said he was moving to Florida and he was selling everything cheap! I bought a nice assortment of vintage linens from him for $1 each.
One of the vendors, a lovely lady named Diana Gamerman, who has a talent with many media, but what attracted me was this wonderful sculpture she had created with thousands of buttons and jewelry bits and pieces!
Diana said this piece wasn't for sale, unless someone gave her the "right price." It is just a mascot for her selling area to attract customers like me! I bought a wonderful vintage coloring set from her booth.
Here is my haul from the flea market:
Our Australian Cattle Dog especially likes the souvenir Australian hankie I bought!
She's really saying: "Get this thing off of me before I tear it to bits, now give me a treat!"
Saturday night, we went to RFK Stadium in DC to see the Washington Nationals play the San Francisco Giants. It was a nice evening, and everyone got a free bobblehead doll of President Teddy Roosevelt. Not only did I get a bobblehead of one of the four presidential mascots, I managed to sneak in and get a picture made with them. Only one, and of course, I was too distracted to actually bother to smile. Instead I chose to look like a crazy person.
These presidents race in the middle of the fourth inning. Teddy, for some reason, never wins. The Nationals have another mascot. It's Screech. Screech is essentially a fat baby eagle. He was walking by where we were sitting. He grabbed me and hubby snapped this picture. Again, I look like a crazy person grabbing back at a giant routund eagle.
The Nationals won and we made it home at a decent hour. Thank goodness. The holiday weekend had two more days, and I need to rest up for them! Oh, yes, I visited an estate sale on friday. Here is what I found after waiting in line for an hour and a-half. I think it was worth it ;)
I'm giving the "Mermaid Treasure" shell to my BFF Suzy for her living room. I'll use the rest of the things I bought in crafting and collections. I'd better get busy! I'm running out of room in my studio/office! Have a happy rest of the holiday weekend, you all! XXOO, Beth

Hi Beth, ohh I love your stash isn't collecting just THE best fun, it is the thrill of the chase, i too spent Saturday out and about, come see my piccies! I tried to point out where I live on your Australia hankie but unfortunately I think it is on the 'tail' end of the hankie and any description might get a bit hairy!!! lol. We live in Queensland, Brisbane to be exact, which is around the Warratah section. I love your photos, if you do look like a crazy person (and I am not saying you do) you look like a very happy one and that is all that matters! I look at photos of myself and moan that I look sooo chubby and my husbands comforting words are always...at least you look happy! Have a great day Linda Lilly Cottage.
