ON Sunday I visited the Sully Plantation Quilt Show and Sale. However, I'm not a quilter. I love this show because many of the vendors sell vintage fabrocs, trims, and buttons! The show is sponsored by the Fairfax County Parks and Recreation and is such a nice outdoor event!
The day was warm with a lovely breeze that kept the heat from getting too uncomfortable. Once admitted to the event, I hurried to my favorite booth run by a pair of lovely ladies who are spectacular crafters and who also sell lots of buttons, trims, and other goodies!
As you can see their booth is very popular! I visited it when I pretty much had it to myself. One of the ladies, Debbie Hartwell, makes the most wonderful pin cushions. Her creations can be found at Earth Angels Toys! You all know that I certainly can appreciate another pin cushion crafter!
Here is my favorite part of visiting this wonderful booth! BUTTONS!
Aren't these vintage sewing machines wonderful? This particular booth deals in very old textiles, quilts, and notions!
This "cherry" quilt caught my eye just before I spied this booth out of the corner of my eye...
I purchased quite a lot of fabric pieces from these ladies. Everything was priced to sell!
I joust couldn't resist taking a photo of these gorgeous Nasturtiums which grew in profusion in an herb garden on the grounds!
Quilts everywhere! I hobbled out of the sale with a bag stuffed full of goodies! I couldn't wait to get home to sort through them all and start sewing! You all know how that is!
Today, as you all know, is a sad anniversary for everyone who cherishes peace. I was sitting that day where I am now, down in my basement office with the window open. I heard the airplane hit the Pentagon (I live a few miles away) and didn't know exactly what I had heard until I switched on the television. In this day of rememberance for those lives lost, honor those who have fallen by loving one another. Love to All of You. XXOO, Beth

that was a lovely end to a lovely post, i remember exactly where i was also, i was in the middle of a gigantic trade show in london and a slow whisper spread around, and later on when i got on the underground to go home, i was the only one in the carriage, and this was rush hour so it was spooky,..xxx

Beth:
WOW, those last few lines are chilling. I too remember where I was and was in total disbelief of what I was hearing on the car radio.
The buttons you photographed are exciting!!!
That stack of border print fabrics caught my eye : )
Glad you had fun
Cheers

Beth,
Thank you for the end comment on this post. I grew up in those towers. My first job in NY was across the street and I watched them build the towers and then commuted through them. I ate lunch there often with coworkers and attended grand business dinners with my husband at windows on the world.I lost neighbors and friends that day. I have not been able to get through this day since without crying, so your words touched me. I wrote a poem about this and posted it on my blog today. Thank you for being the sensitive person that you are. xxoo, Susan

You are a button magnet. You always seem to find them - yard sale, thrift stores and now quilt shows.
